Wakey Monkey first opened its doors on August 23, 2019, founded by Matt Noller. From day one, it was more than just a café—it was a place where the community could gather over great coffee, delicious food, and fresh pastries. When the pandemic hit, Matt navigated the challenges with resilience, ensuring that Wakey Monkey remained a welcoming space during uncertain times.

Life eventually led Matt to Colorado, and in May 2022, Ben and Haylie Land took over the café. They continued the tradition of warm service and delicious offerings, making sure Wakey Monkey remained a beloved part of the community. In 2024, life brought new opportunities for the Lands, leading them to pass the torch to us, Eric and Melissa Gillespie, on July 1, 2024.

Melissa spent 31 years as a teacher at Saluda Elementary before retiring in June 2024, while Eric worked in the linen and uniform rental industry for 25 years. With a shared love for community and hospitality, we knew Wakey Monkey was the perfect next adventure.

Our mission is simple: to keep the heart of Wakey Monkey beating strong, serving up the same cozy atmosphere, friendly service, and handcrafted drinks that have made this café special from the start.
